I just rode in a new Acura RL and discovered that the built in
navigation system allows you to enter up to five addresses...and it
will sort them into the best route. Since I am in real estate sales,
this is an outstanding feature. The question is...do I have to buy an
Acura RL in order to get this function or is it available on some other
cars or any of the aftermarket units.

All SP26xx models have implemented a solution to "the traveling salesman
problem". The user can input a series of destinations and the SP26xx
will compute a "shortest route" to cover all of the locations in a
minimum time or minimum distance trip...

In addition to point-to-point navigation, the StreetPilot 2720 can
calculate the most efficient route between multiple destinations-a
real time-saver for realtors, sales forces, and errand-runners. Drivers
can also tell the unit to avoid specific areas or road segments when
calculating a route.

you could also buy an Acura TL

by the way these guys have another cool feature - real-time traffic data as
part of the routing logic, available in only certain metro areas. The
traffic data is delivered to the car over XM radio.

the TomTom software for palm and pocket PC (TomTom Navigator 5) has multiple
destination routing but right now does not pick the best route. That is said
to be on their "to do list" for a future release.

TomTom also has real-time traffic info available via a bluetooth connection
to a mobile phone with GPRS internet. This requires a paid subscription to
their tomtom plus service.
