I have bought a marketing test stock (8 units) of these receivers.

They are expensive in Canada, so I bought some from a couple sellers in
the US to resell here. The prices in the US are attractive, esp. with
the strong CAD $, but S&H just about kills every good deal whether on
ebay or from online stores. (Free shipping in the US, but to Canada
it's $30 or more).

Yours for CAD$95 - new, in the box (+S&H). (GST/PST/HST included as
they apply).

IAC, even though I had to pay federal duty and GST, I avoided brokerage
charges by going to NY yesterday (just south of the border) to pick
these up at a mail drop and processing them at customs myself.

These GPS's are esp. suited to photographers, but also anyone who simply
wants to record their travels. The unit has no display, provides no
guidance. It just records. Here's more (copied from a forum post):

The AMOD GPS Logging (AGL3080) unit is a very simple yet sophisticated
device that you can carry with you anywhere and while it is on, it
records your position, time, speed and direction of travel.

Uses include road trips, cycling, hiking and my favourite, outdoor
photography.

It uses one of the most able and low power consumption chipsets, the 20
channel SiRF Star III GPS and includes WAAS reception to enhance its
accuracy even further.

Typical horizontal accuracies are better than 5 metres in open areas,
esp. where WAAS coverage is provided (most of Canada and US).

Where WAAS is not available, accuracies will be 10 metres or better in
open areas, most of the time.

The Sirf III chipset was designed to also perform very well in urban and
real canyons as well as under foliage.

The device has a 128 MB memory which will log your position and time
once per second for over 70 hours in up to 1,040,000 records.
It can be set to log at lower rates as well to extend the recording time
to up to 2,880 hours (See below).

Photography use. Ever go on a long trip and take photos all over the
place? Sometimes it's nice to know exactly where a photo was taken.

Set your digital camera time accurately before you go out and carry
along the AMOD AGL3080. After your hike or outing, use the supplied
software (or free/shareware from the web), you can "tag" each photo with
the location where it was taken. This facilitates locating photos on
Panoramio, Google Earth and many other applications for PC, Mac and online.

In Google Earth you can also play back your travel track. Keeping this
data as part of your Google Earth data sets means being able to revisit
trips for decades to come. (Yes, you can even tag DNG and raw camera files).

(semi-evil use: when junior borrows the car just make sure this it is on
and hidden on the "hat shelf" in back and you can check that he stayed
"in bounds" and didn't drive at reckless speed - note that the speed
recording is in knots - multiply by 1.852 to get km/hr. You can use a
spreadsheet to plot speed and Google Earth to see where he's been.)

The unit takes 3 AAA batteries. I get about 15 hours from alkaline
batteries and about 10 hours from rechargeable batteries (NiMH). Since
the recorded data is kept in flash memory, you don't need to worry about
when you make battery changes.

The real joy of this unit is no drivers are needed on your computer.
Simply connect with the supplied USB cable and copy to a folder and then
use as you see fit. The data is formatted in various NMEA strings
according to the mode you selected (there are 6 modes, below). So
whether you use a PC, Mac, Linux or other 'nix you can read in the data
(supplied software is designed for Win and Mac OS X, however).

If you turned it on, for example, 4 times, then there will be 4 files in
the flash memory. Just copy them then erase the files on the GPS as you
would from a flash card. (or "reformat" the memory using the function
keys on the unit). Then use the provided or 3rd party programs to tag
photos and plot tracks in Google Earth and other applications and online
sites.

Recording modes (NMEA 0183 sentence(s), rate, number of records and
recording time).

For most recreational uses, RMC is the only sentence you need (modes 2,
4 & 6).

Mode 1 GGA/GSA/RMC/VTG-> 1 sec, GSV -> 5 sec, 72 hours
Mode 2 RMC-> 1 sec 288 hours
Mode 3 GGA/GSA/RMC/VTG/GSV-> 5 sec 360 hours
Mode 4 RMC-> 5 sec 1,440 hours
Mode 5 GGA/GSA/RMC/VTG/GSV-> 10 sec 720 hours
Mode 6 RMC-> 10 sec 2,880 hours

(See:
http://teletype.whsites.net/pages/support/Documentation/RMC_log_info.htm
for a description of the output strings).

The price I offer is the best deal you can get in Canada. Ordering from
the US comes out a lot higher due to S&H.

Includes: GPS (batteries not included), USB cable, carrying strap and
hook (removable), CD-ROM (Manual, photo-tagging s/w (PC & Mac)).

Units are new in box.

Made in Taiwan (Sirf GPS sensor and the AMOD GPS unit).
Manufacturer warranty is 1 year.
