My Garmin 2610 is having difficulty with screen calibration. I have
trouble entering the letter A or the + when I try to zoom in. All
things on the left upper side (plus a few more).
If I perform the screen calibration, things then become OK. However,
soon I seem to lose the calibration. Is there an internal battery
that needs to be replaced? I have had this unit pretty much since
they came out.

If you don't have any of those same problems when you use the remote
control, the problem is probably a failing touchscreen. I had a
refurbished 2620 that had a touchscreen that failed (it was not working
at all) after I had had it about four months. Garmin replaced it
without any undue questions under their one year warranty for
refurbished units.
If yours is out of warranty you can buy a refurbished 2610 (check
internet sellers and on eBay) for only a little bit more than the flat
rate repair charge and that will give all the accessories, maybe newer
mapping (try to find one that comes with City Navigator 2008), and a
fresh start on a one year warranty. Repaired units only get a limited
90 day warranty.
