This may be old news, but I donąt detect any discussion of it in this group
so here goes.

łShah Capital Partners, a private equity firm ..., will acquire GNSS
receiver manufacturer Thales Navigation from the Thales Group of Paris,
France.

łThe two companies reached a definitive agreement on July 20, according to
Shah Capital ... expected to close in the third quarter of 2006. Reportedly
... selling price was $170 million.

łThe deal will apparently bring back Magellan as a corporate name in the
GNSS field as well as a popular brand of consumer GPS products. Thales
Navigation will become Magellan Navigation, Inc. and be headquartered in San
Dimas, California.˛

Iąm shocked and amazed at the seemingly low sale price. Hopefully there
will be a large infusion of capital from the new owners. TBD

That is an 'investment company'. One has no way to tell if the result
will be good, or bad. Let's hope for the best.

That's interesting, it will take some work and investment to get
Magellan back to the market position they had at one time. But I wish
them the best of luck, I'd hate to think of Garmin with the market all
to themselves.

My thought exactly! As soon as my drugs arrive, I should feel much better.

A bit off topic was sale a couple of years ago of Mission Research Corp. to
Alliant Tech for something like $250 million. That was NUTS.
