Is it my GPS or is it normal for it to be off on routing etc.? When in
Route mode, it tells me to turn left in 800m, when I can see the
purple/pink line (route line)way before that, if I donīt turn to the
purple/pink with blue arrow it re-calculates the route, so I would say
the route it calculated is right but the voice guidance (when it says
how many meters to go) is off. The street names (some) are spelled
wrong, my street name is "pais" and it shows on the map (gps) as "pias".
Is this how all these machines are? Iīve been using it in places that I
know my way around and am wondering that when I take it to another
country that I know nothing about it will give me wrong guidance. When I
tell it to take me "home" it never, never does, it will leave me at
about 300m from home. I used to use a Meridian Yellow and it took me 30m
max. from home.
Am I expecting too much from a very expensive toy?
I also wish that the On/Off button wasnīt so sensitive. Aside from these
things I like the machine and I swear, sometimes I think the lady that
tells me to turn left and right is about to clobber me over the head if
I donīt follow her directions, very persistent thing. Maybe I should try
the male voice, might be a little more tolerable:-)

I and my son have been doing route planning and review on his new
Explorist 600 and the effect you describe is exactly what we have been
seeing if the zoom level (magnification) is not at the highest setting,
i.e., the route is displaced from actual by a substantial distance.
This displacement is markedly decreased to mere feet (meters) at the
greatest zoom level.

<<Major Snipping by rsquared>>

I just purchased a 700. I was anxious to use/test it, so I began using
it to guide me through local routes that I already understood.

It always seems to get me there, but I am noticing that the application
logic seems overly simplistic in the assumptions.

That is, the 700 makes no allowances for traffic volumes or patterns.
In many cases, it makes the "Fasest Route" quite meaningless. In a
congested area, the shortest route tends to be my fastest route - -
i=2Ee. stay off the highway.

I am okay with this since my main purpose for the device is minimizing
wrong turns in unfamiliar areas/cities.

However, when I am in my hometown, the RM700 will probably stay in the
trunk.
