I have lost my basemap during a firmware update
now the unit says loading. Looking for the basemap
that the firmware knocks out. Great support from
Magellan.
Thanks in advance
Foget it... I took care of it myself..
Thanks for the non-replies and loads of non-help.
Hope I can be as helpful someday.

You already are, by not telling how you solved the problem. So don't be

such a PITA.
Sigh.
did it occur to you that the reason you didn't get help was that no one
KNOWS how to get such a basemap? If it is possible to trash a basemap
then Magellan needs to FIX that problem. We sure can't.
Look not trying to be a PITA. However, no person even
said they knew nothing about it. I just find it hard
to imagine that the problem never happened to anyone
else. Although yes I can be very stubborn about things.
With that being said I simply went to the local store
purchased a second unit. I copied the background folder
that looks blank when viewed. However the properties
shows the folder to be 27.8 MB. So I copied the folder
to my system. Copied the folder to the unit that was
missing the 27.8 MB background folder and everything
was good again. I simply returned the second unit for a
full refund.
I zipped the background folder up and in the zip file it does
show the file BASEMAP.MGI. However, I am not able to
make the file visible. So I have the file saved and ready to
help if needed.

The 210 is a new model, and if it is possible (obviously is) to delete
the basemap information, I doubt it will be a popular model! Someone
REALLY dropped the ball in the firmware there.
Thanks for the description of the method. I am sure others will be
interested in the future, and now we can help them. You are now part of
the solution, rather than the problem. Don't you feel better knowing that?
