Other Forums-Maestro 4000 (series)

Are there any? With a moderate amount of digging, all I've found that is
useful is poi.factory.

It appears these new models operate somewhat differently than the old ones
so "general" Magellan info. is not very useful.

So far I have found (or figured out):

They are just tiny little portable computers with a touch screen, running
Windows CE.

There is 2G of built-in memory (on the 4000) and an SD slot that Magellan
says is only good for another 2G.

They told me I couldn't load any custom POI files without an SD card but
that isn't true.
There's about 600M of free internal memory where custom POI files will go
just fine.
(This may not be a good idea long term, however).

When you connect the unit to a computer via USB, it looks like an external
memory device. As such, you can copy ALL of the software files off to a
computer folder for backup purposes. This applies to both the SD card AND
everything in the internal memory too (not the firmware).

So, any sources of additional technical info..........without having to
become an approved 3rd party developer ??

Thought I had found a "gem" yesterday.
VantagePoint software. Someplace it said it worked on the Maestro
line.......alas, it doesn't.
Large download, LONG install time.........all a waste of time. Now to take
it back out!
