I have topo 3d, and the direct route software. Can l load regions with 3d on
one SD card for topo stuff, and use direct route on another card or will
this mess up the unit switching? Just got the color meridian so I'm not
familiar with the does and don't s with it. Thanks in advance

You can mix the regions on the card and just select the region you want
to use later. I used up to 1 GB cards with my color, I think 2 GB cards
can be used too although I did not use them then.
I used to give the uploaded regions names that would sort them by type,
starting with D for DirectRoute and T for topo or something like that.
The BlueNav marine charts have to be handled differently because only
one file name, detail00.img, will be read by the Meridians. For those I
used to store multiple files by changing the numbers in the file name to
01, 02, etc., and then renaming the file I wanted to use to detail00.img.
When I was doing boat deliveries I had to travel with PDA that had a SD
card slot and use that for renaming the BlueNav files as I proceeded
from one chart region to the next. It took about four regions of
charting to get from Bar Harbor, ME to Cape Cod, MA.
It sounds like a lot of trouble thinking back on it but it certainly was
worth it to have all that.
The versions of BlueNav that came on a CD-ROM bring a whole new world of
ideosynchracies with them in use.

Thats great news having the ability to store both types of profiles, for the
same area. I like the topo maps better but didn't want to give up the auto
routing that direct route provides. Thank you for the info

If you have both S&D/DR and Topo or Topo3D you can incorporate topo lines
to S&D or DR. In this case you will have topo lines together with detail
map in one (*.img) file. Topo lines plus auto routing. This is what I do
using DR and Topo3d on CD (not DVD). First, you need to have a "full"
install, not run data from CD.
How to add TOPO information to mapsend S&D or DR program:
FROM MAPSEND TOPO 3D USA
1. Copy the /MAP/BLX directory (contains world.blx) to /MAP in the MapSend
Direct Route program folder.
2. Copy topo3d.ini from the /MAP directory to /MAP in MapSend Direct Route
program folder.
3. Copy topo3d.cfg from /MAP dirictory in MapSend Topo to /MAP in MapSend
Direct Route program folder.
4. Add the line below to the [PATHS] section of MAPSEND.INI found in the
root dir:
Topo3DInit=topo3d.ini,BLX0
5. Launch MapSend Direct Route NA and regenerate maps to include new topo
data.
