Hi all.
I have just acquired a s/h Meridian Platinum.
Model is Meridian Platinum, Europe
P/N 800478-06
S/N CH 002622
D/C 1402
Switch shows
V5.12 WAAS Enabled
Australia Marine-1.01

Seems to have an Australian Base Map.
Have a problem.
I live in South Australia which is in time zone GMT+0930 (yes, 9 and a
HALF hours).
When setting the time, it invariably sets it 30 minutes out. ie it
rounds it to the hour. I tried initialising and even when I enter the
correct time, it still comes up locked and ready to go with the time 30
minutes out and there appears to be no way to change it.
I'm hoping a firmware upgrade might fix this, can anyone confirm?
It came with the Mapsend Adelaide area map loaded on the SD card, but
minus the Mapsend CD or data cable.
I've ordered the data cable locally but the Mapsend products seem
unreasonably expensive. Any cheaper alternatives for street level maps
for Australia (particularly South Australia)?
Regards

they weren't aware that some areas don't go on 1 hour increments....

Wierd. Not sure what to make of that.
I know there is a difference between UTC and the satellite time, but
it's seconds not minutes.

My GPS320 would get it half an hour wrong on initialisation, but I could
set that manually after init and it would be fine, the Meriplat
doesn't seem to allow that. I can change the time *format* but not the
time for some silly reason.
Given how long the Meridian series have been out, I'd be amazed if
someone else from SA hadn't jumped on Magellan about it.
Cheers

I've noticed that the clocks on the eXplorist 210 and 500 drift over
time. My old 210 was out by one and a half minutes after six months
use.
The 500 is faring better. I just checked the one that I got in the
spring and it's only out 2 seconds.
I've found the only way to get the clocks back in sync again is to do
a hard reset of the unit. The 'set time' feature didn't seem to work.
To set the time you can use 'Menu->Setup->Time Format'. This will let you
set
the time to a number of hours plus 30 minutes from UTC.
