I feel totally taken advantage now, after waiting 4 months for the new
map updates and then finding they arecharging $79,95 for them. You
would think that the maps would be free, at least for the first year.

I bought a new 3000T and kept seeing the update would be available in
September. I never thought they would charge for it. Guess I'll dump
it on Ebay and get me a Garmin.

I agree with you! you would think that it would be free or at the very
least a little bit cheaper. However after saying that; one doesn't know
how much it costs to build and put together the update. Must be awfully
time consuming getting all the updated information for those millions of
locations that they have in these units!

Yes, but that really isn't an excuse for the prices they charge. It
seems to me that JUST an update to the database should be cheaper than
buying all new software, given that in most cases the changes to the
software are either trivial, or negative. I have yet to get a response
to a message about a database error from any mapping company, although I
did notice that a 1/2 mile 'dislocation' was fixed in a later version of
the software in one case. Surely the number of GPS units in use is
sufficient to spread that cost out a bit more.

I just bought my upgrade online. There is a $20 coupon code but an
additional $6 to ship the upgrade (it is on DVD) so the total came to
$65.99. They should have made the upgrade downloadable to save the $6.
