Where did they hire these idiots from? Eager to be polite but can't think
for themselves. Brainless lackeys. Truly frustrating. I'll never buy a
Magellan again!

Then the list of the various products you refuse to buy will get longer and
longer.

Oh, must had forgotten to mention that they had lost my GPS unit for about
30 days, handed off the case to 3 other people whom 2 had 'disappeared'
which meant every time I called I had to start over with the explanations,
they couldn't get my email address correct after 4 attempts, hadn't returned
phone calls when they said they would, and basically 'dogged' me with
complete BS untill the unit was finally found. Then when found it they
called me and said that I should get it back within 7~10 days because it
takes that long to fix each unit(?) with bench testing and all that, but
then the next day it appears on my front porch with no shipping list, letter
or explanation of the problem. Just a GPS in a box. But it does now work and
it appears that they did do a free map uprade of which I do like.

Good luck to All with service issues,

I have no resentment for the folks that answer the phones, they are just
trying to make a living. The people that purchased Magellan from Thales
have roots in India, the shift of the support operation to that part of
the world was probably a foregone conclusion:

Magellan's support was marginal before the change, it could get better
than it was before under the new ownership. Although I don't see
anything that leads me to conclude that it will yet.

I think it is unnecessarily harsh to expect all global business to be
conducted in faultless American English. I've had good support and bad
support out of India, dealing with heavy accents can be challenging and
takes some patience.

I spent 26 years in the Navy and I was treated politely and patiently,
for my lack of language skills, by many people around the world as I
traveled. One of my toughest times in communicating with others was in
an English speaking nation, Britain.

I've told the story several times...... when I passed through Heathrow a few
years ago I couldn't understand a soul about where to get ground
transportation. I finally spotted a Air Canada stewardess. I asked her if
she spoke English and she directed me to the correct location. Her brand of
English was more like mine.
