I just ordered a Magellan Explorist 210 Bundle. The bundle seems to be
a good deal. It comes with the 210 Explrist receiver, the Topo USA CD,
a case, USB cable and a 12V adapter. All for $175.

Any thoughts?

Yes, be careful you don't delete the basemap. Seems to be possible with
this unit, in spite of all reason, and logic, indicating this should NOT
be possible!
Good price for the indicated bundle, though.

Ron,

Thanks for the advise. I did read a thread about it. I am a newbie. This
is my first GPS. I never used one before, but they look like fun.

I bought a property, next door to a DNR land, so I want to use it in my
walks there. I also want to use the device to GPS mark my property, it has
10 corners (it is not squared). So I though I would create 10 POI in a
folder called "Property", and maybe transfer it to my PC using the topo map
USA Software that comes with the bundle.

If the Base Maps get erased, can they be reinstalled?

That seems to be a matter of interest now (reinstalling Base Map on
210). As for your usage, kind of like a poor man's surveying tool. Grin.

I've got one.. It's a good little unit. It's sensitive and accurate.

I like the fact it comes with a cable.. (Usually accessories like cables
cost an arm and a leg :-)

There is a MapSend CD with Topo USA 3D bundled with the unit, BUT
you have to pay to 'unlock' it in order to actually use it.

It costs $149.99 for Topo USA if you unlock the enclosed CD at
the Magellan site.

If you shop around, you can buy the disk by itself with an activation
code from for quite a bit less...
