Magellan 2200T

Why is it when I find something that has what I want and at a
resonable price, most all of the reviews trash it, like the 2200T. Is
it really just a piece of junk? Do you know anyone who has one and is
satisfied? Is it possible that a few lemons get into unsuspecting
hands and they are the ones, understandably, griping?

I have had and used the 2200T for several months and would not say it is
crappy nor that all reviews trashed it. See

description of this gps. The thing isn't perfect, but I have not read a
review of any gps that is. The determining factors for me were pocketable
size, 8 hour battery life, and crossover ability (yet to be issued as an
upgrade). I am not sorry I chose this model and would probably do it again
(and pay a lot less since prices have dropped since I bought mine). Hope
this helps with your decision.

I agree with Al. I bought the 2200T just last month, still getting used to
it, but generally like it a lot. With that 8 hr battery, I have yet to
bother plugging it in while driving, I charge it overnight every few days,
and use it as needed.

It also appears that Magellan read some of the reviews, too. I saw one that
said you can't adjust the volume, and can't easily find the battery meter.
Well, they added volume to the "mute" screen and you can check the battery
life from map in 3 clicks. I do agree that it's stupid to have an MP3
player that you can't use while navigating, but that hasn't been a
show-stopper for me.

The big selling points for me were the battery life, text-to-speech, and
hopefully sometime soon upgrade to topo mapping.

I broke it in driving around Colorado on a spring break ski trip a few weeks
back. It took a few minutes to figure out where it was when I put it in the
rental car, but worked great thereafter. Ahead of time, I stored the
name/address/phone number of several friends (in CO) that I wanted to visit,
made the nav go fast.

I too just bought the 2200t , Costco now has it for $249.99 . Costco
has a 90 day electronic return policy so I have plenty of time to run
it through the paces. One of the first things I did was flash it to
the latest version and that process was pretty painless.
