I would like to put in address A and address B and simulate the route from A
to B.

But it seems that A always has to be my present location.

Am I missing some method of doing this?

Make sure that you do not have a satellite fix. Set GPS Position to
wherever you want and simulate a route from that point.to your desired
destination.
