GPS That Will Accept Offline Map Routing

What is a good recommended stand alone automobile GPS that will acept
routing from an external source like a computer maping
software.Sometimes I want to program say from Google to take a specfic
route that the GPS does not calculate.

Not one that has to use a laptop to operate

What you want to do requires a model that will do multiple destination
routing. You place the points (they would be destinations if you stop,
or just via points if you just pass through them) on various roads and
it builds a route that passes through them all in the order listed.

There are three Garmin models that will do multiple destination routing
and also come with the mapping on DVD for a PC install so that you can
plan routes on a PC and upload them. Those are the StreetPilot 2820,
the Quest II, and the zumo 450 and 550.

The nuvi 750 or 760 also will do a half assed or mediocre version of it
but it does not come with the software for the PC install.

The best deals are on the refurbished older models that will do the
multiple destination routing. Models like the StreetPilot 2610 or 2720
or 2730. Stay away from the 2620, it has a miniature hard drive that is
prone to failure.
