Its sad the way they stop supporting their products. Garmin offers a life
time of map updates. I will think Garmin the next time.

Thank you for contacting Magellan Technical Support. As I understand, you
want to know when will the 2009 map update for the Magellan Crossover be
available.

Upon checking our database, we see that the Magellan Crossover GPS is
already out of production for quite sometime and according to all the
information that we have the ''CrossoverGPS NA Map and Software Update V2''
is the last map update that will be available for your unit. Since, we can't
offer any support for your GPS unit, the best offer we could give you would
be our Customer Loyalty Program (CLP). In the program we would take your old
unit back and offer you a new unit with all of the latest technological
advance, updated maps and a full 1 year manufacturers warranty at a portion
of what you would pay for a new unit at a retail location.

Kindly email us back if you would like to trade in your unit for a new model
so we can give you more information and to assist you with the process you
may call our hot line 1-800-707-9971. Press "Option 4" for Technical
Assistance and then press "Option 4" for your unit.

We do hope that we have answer all of your concern for today.

I contacted them thanks for the info. Depending on which GPS you want is
what they will give on a trade.

I think its pretty bad that my GPS is only 1 year old and its no longer
supported. They didn't blink a eye when they still sold them for full price.
I did get mine on Ebay very reasonable but look how many people paid full
price just to find out its no longer supported.

I liked the interface of my GPS over the Garmin. I have a friend with one, I
don't remember the model number of it. It doesn't show the split screen when
you get to your turn like mine. That is a useful feature I like on my
motorcycle. I don't even have to look down at my GPS. I can see at a glance
the screen splits and I know my turn is just ahead. Maybe my friends Garmin
is the only one that don't have that feature, maybe the others do. But, when
this GPS takes a dive I'm buying a Garmin and getting the life time updates
they offer on their web site. It cost just over 100 bucks but it would be
well worth it over having a GPS out dated in less than 1 year after buying
it.
