Have searched the net and found some programs but the learning curve
is massive to convert the routes. Is there a simple to use or easy way
to convert my GARMIN routes I saved with my old GPS to the format used
by MAGELLAN.

This turf war between all the makers of GPS units is a pain in the
ass. They think becuase you purchase a unit off them you have to
perpetually purchase off them or lose all your valuable data.

I have some Ski-Doo trip routes that I want to import to the eXplorist
500 from my old eTrex unit.

GPSBabel can do it. There are GUIs, web interfaces, and command line
interfaces so you can do whatever you're comfortable with.

No arguments from me. That's why I'm glad to see them starting to rally
around GPX.

What Robert said. If GPSBabel does not suit you or your are looking for
something else, check out the various third party applications here:

http://gpsinformation.net/

I'm partial to GPS Utility because I have been using it for some time
but all of those applications can be useful.

Try "GPS Utility" from www.gpsu.co.uk which will convert Garmin routes
to various formats, including Magellan. Just File|Open the file in one
format and do File|SaveAs... in the format you wish, or alternatively
just upload the data direct to your GPS.
