Would the Roadmate 800 "suction window mount" be permitted as an
airline carry on item?

Oh, you can carry it on, but most airlines don't allow you to use GPS
receivers in flight. They claim they might cause problems with their
communications/navigation equipment, but I think the real reason is that
they don't want most people to realize the outrageous routings that the
FAA often makes the airlines take to their destinations.

I used mine on a flight, crew staff saw it and didnīt ask me not to use
it. No, I didnīt have it mounted on the window...

It depends on the airline. American Airlines specifically prohibits
them. Since they are the only airline I fly with more than
occasionally, they are the only one that I have checked.

I am able to get on the plane, but typicaly not to use on the plane.
Yet, they are fun to sneek a peak at how far and fast.~John
