I know this has been discussed but i wasn't interested
before now. Can someone point me to inexpensive online
tracking devices/software, and information. I currently have
5 GPSrs, and cell phones and the like to work with if there
is a solution.
Ideally I want a device that will broadcast my whereabouts
either real time, or every so often, that can be monitored
over the internet, such as on Google maps.
Post on one of the HAM radio groups, and you will get information on
systems that you can use.
A phone-home system might be expensive if it is real time and you do a
lot of driving, the HAM system(s), by using radio, are low operating
cost.

There are several. One is www.findmespot.com. My brother has used this for the
family to track his boat travel, and it worked great.

That's pretty cool. I really don't want another monthly
service fee. I was hoping I, and others could use current
devices to do this.
I do have a HAM license, but not everyone does so APRS is
out for most people.
I though maybe there was a way to use the cell to
automatically send data to the web some how as to location.
Like a text message that was compiled into map data. Hmmm
maybe I need to write an app

I was looking at http://www.navxs.com/en/screenshots.html
and Buddyway. My phone, Verizon, won't let me run these apps!
