I'm looking at a number of GPS models and I've narrowed the choices down
to Garmin Nuvi 765 to Magellan Roadmate 1470 (I did look at 1475T, the
only difference between the 2 was traffic link support).
Both seem to have good features. some not so.
both have lane assist
Negatives
Magellan - short battery life - 3 hours
Nuvi - 3D buildings
Positives
Magellan - Triple AAA
4.7 size screen
Nuvi - long battery life - 5 hours

Unless you're using these walking (one of the things the new nuvi 1xxx
series has as a tweak in its routing routines), it's hard to see,
really, how battery life is important.
Are you planning on some other out-of-vehicle use?

I'm trying tease out aloud which GPS to go with.
I'll admit that the pros/pos vs cons/negs list isn't too good. Battery
length isn't really an issue for me.
1st GPS for me. :)

Here's my take: it is six of one, and half-a-dozen of the other! Both
have their supporters (I like Magellen) and people who say that 'they
suck' too.
What I would recommend, if possible, is to find someone who has one of
each, and see if you could borrow it for a few days, and try them. You
may find one is easier to use, or does something that you never
expected you'd want to (and the other doesn't support that feature!)
