Does anyone know of a free news server that passes alt.satellite.gps and
sci.geo.satellite-nav?

I tried fb1.euro.net and news.sunsite.dk, but they do not pass them.

My ISP is shutting its news server as of June 1.

Thanks in advance

If it really has to be free, look in newsgroup "alt.free.newsservers"
for some suggestions. I've used these guys in an emergency:

http://www.readfreenews.net/

There are lots of low-cost commercial services, especially if you
don't want binaries.

http://news.individual.net/ is a bargain at 10 Euro/year. Text only.

That's the standard one to recommend, and they do a good job spam
filtering too.

'Free' for news servers is a short term option (n.i.n. used to be free,
once) - running them costs big $$ if you do it right, so selling them
'for free' has to be a loss leader for some other activity, or applies
only during beta test, or is restricted to members of %group%, or
whatever.

You can find free ones, but I doubt you'll find free ones that last.

For about 10 years I have used my ISP's news server and never had problems,
so I never searched for an alternative. News.individual.net seems OK to me
and the price of 10 Euro/year is no problem, of course.

A price of 10 Euro/month would have been a different story. Although, to
stay in touch with you all....

Thanks for posting
