i'm trying to decide whether to buy garmin mobile or use the free
google maps mobile on my phone.

chances are i would be using either service MOSTLY for poi's in
pedestrian mode.

which do you think is the most up-to-date and has the MOST poi's?

thx

Based on experience with new roads being constructed in Spain -
Garmin/NavTeq have been taking 2+ years to get the roads on to CN
updates, whilst Google has the roads shown whilst they're being
constructed. Don't know if this info. can be extrapolated to POIs.
However, given that POIs are a "commercial" addon for both
organisations perhaps they are better organised and more up-to-date.
However, the POIs with Garmin are very selective, i.e., only companies
who pay the annual fee seem to be included, and they are usually
companies/banks, etc., you don't want. But in fairness, I note that
this year cemeteries have been included for the small villages in
Spain - perhaps this was a "pro-bono" addition by Garmin!

        You are probably right.
