Hi, I am a newbie and I need good gps unit that will be accurate to within
10 feet as I walk aroun some unmarked land that are 1 acre lots in Utah.I
tried my Navigon 2100 and the co-ordinates did not change at all!!Also,
aren't the co-ordinates to have a lot of minutes and seconds after them? or
is this why the Navigon is not very sensitive?

To get in the 3 meter range consistently you will need differential
corrections from WAAS or radio beacon (the later requiring a separate
receiver).

Something like a Navigon probably won't do what you want, These are
navigation systems and rely on a built-in road map to assist the
positioning. You might manage with a "sport" unit like a "Geonaute
Keymaze 200" (that's what I've got) This seems to plot my movements
pretty well and easily transfers to Google Earth. However 10 foot
accuracy on the move is pushing the limits of consumer units. I get
better than 20 feet most of the time, but signal reflections off hilly
terrain can upset things, but not by more than 30 feet so far. If you
want better than 10 foot always you are looking at a military spec

Maybe that the navigon is not usable for walking, as it's done for
vehicle navigation.
It may filter slow movements and you don't see them.

Hello,

did you have enough digits of the coordinates?
At the equator, one angle minute is a nautical mile or about 1852 metre
or about 6076 feet. One angle second is about 101 feet. To see
differences of 10 feet, you should have at least one digit after the
point of the seconds value, better two digits.

Bye
