Hello group,

Having recently purchased a mini-laptop/tablet PC (Dialogue Flybook) I am
not too keen on paying again for a Pocket PC to run a Satellite Navigation
system. I would prefer to use a nice clear 8.9" touchscreen rather than the
very small screens that Pocket PCs use.

Does anyone know of Sat Nav software that is designed to run on Windows XP?
I suppose it is necessary to consider whether this software would actually
cost me more than the usual Pocket PC/Software combination usually sold.

Also, once I have the software, can I use any GPS receiver or is there some
compatibility issue to consider?

Many thanks in advance.

Tanel.

"CoPilot Live | Laptop 8 transforms your laptop or Tablet PC into an
advanced GPS nav system. Receive spoken, turn-by-turn directions to any
address. With a brilliant 3D map display to guide you and the ability to
detour around sudden traffic, you'll never leave home without your
CoPilot."
Haven't tested this software, so this is not a recommendation or
endorsement.

Software only: $199. They have a few bundles that include a GPS
receiver, but none of them seem to have the new SirfStarIII chipset.

As long as the GPS receiver can be connected to the Tablet PC (I
recommend Bluetooth over USB, and let's not speak of other serial wired
connections) and it delivers NMEA-compliant data, you're good.

I recommend Bluetooth-connected receivers with the SirfStarIII chipset.
Bluetooth, because wires are a pain in the ass; SirfStarIII, because it
makes older hardware look like mere novelty items.

iGuidance is another one

It seems your Ultra-Portable Notebook does not have built-in blue
tooth.

Go with any usb gps (with the newer sirf III chipset) unit and you are
ready to go if you do not want to add an USB bt dongle

for S&T2006
yes. there is no auto re routing
it only says with those robotic voice 'off route'
that is it and either you make 2 u turns or press F3
in terms of details and poi there is likely no equal (still need to
verify though)
