Not sure how to ask this...I know from the manual the 60C will do lap
times (but there's no explanation HOW) but can it somehow do
straight-line timed runs? I'd like to use it to do some performance
comparisons on modified ATVs. Ultimate accuracy isn't as important as
repeatability for my needs. If you're familiar with a G-tech, I'd
like the GPS to give similar results using time & distance (where the
G-tech uses G's and time to calculate distance...and anyway won't work
on ATVs--too slow).

You can set the GPS to record the track at a specified time or distance
interval instead of Auto...
Time can be per second and distance per 0.01 of a mile/kilometre...

Maybe I made a faulty assumption. I thought the lap timer used
position reference. When one goes full circle the GPS knows it & can
display the elapsed time. I didn't think it could work straight-line.
I tried this out on the highway and it did work in a straight line at
preset intervals ("laps"). This will do nicely :-)
Thanks.
