I recently bought a Tomtom 710 having been the owner of a Garmin 2610
for 3 years. I am very happy with the 710 in all respects except one. I
am a metro courier and therefore have need of a GPS that provides some
help with multiple waypoints. With the Garmin 2610 you can select
multiple addresses, add them to an itinerary and you will have a
display of their direction and relative distance from you as the crow
flies. You can then manually sort them or choose to "auto-arrange".
Unfortunately with the Tomtom when I add several addresses to an
itinerary I am given no indication of their direction or distance from
me. I therefore have to look them up in the street directory before I
manually sort them. If the "travelling salesman problem" is too complex
for Tomtom software to solve at least some more information on that
itinerary screen would be of assistance. My only workaround so far for
this is to add a temporary POI category and save these waypoints there.
That way the distance is displayed for me to help sort them. A pity
there is such a glaring deficiency in an otherwise excellent product.
