Specifically: when using my HTC Touch PRO for navigation or recording a route,
which method would last longest?
I already have a separate Bluetooth GPS receiver which I bought to use with my
previous pocket PC (it did not have inbuilt GPS). That GPS receiver has a good
battery and its own solar panel so it has a running time up to 30 hours, but I
don't know how the Bluetooth communication in the HTC compares with the GPS
with regards to power consumption.
Thanks in advance,
Philip.

You'd really have to try it. There is too much variation in chipsets
for it to be feasible to make any absolute predictions and there
dont appear to be enough reading here for it to be likely that
someone else has tried that already.

Take a look at the following, it might reveal some ideas:

Someone from HTC's helpdesk has now given me the, not so useful, tip that
there is an option in the menu to see what application is using most power:
Bluetooth, WIFI etc. I say "not so useful" because I've never seen that option
in the menu.
Regards,
Philip.

I though the question was pretty straightforward but it took three messages
each way before HTC understood what I wanted to know and told me the Bluetooth
would use up the battery LESS than the inbuilt GPS chip.
