Hi all,
I'm just starting some hobbyist programming with my GPS receiver, and here's
my first question:
some sources list WAAS as a type of DGPS, and some say it's not.
My earthmate lt 40 seems to be giving me fixes (here in Florida), with very
low HDOP values, but the GGA sentence quality parameter does not, and never
does, indicate a DGPS quality fix.
I suspect it's using WAAS, and it's supposed to have this capability, but
can it do so without showing a DGPS quality fix in the GGA sentence?
thanks.

WAAS & DGPS are similar in the sense that both provide local
corrections wirelessly to the mobile receiver.
WAAS & DGPS are specific & different systems though.
Usually a mobile device with WAAS capability has to have it activated
via a menu choice.
