I will be upgrading my 60C to a 60Cx. I also have a 76S unlocked. As
far as I can tell, there is no way to lock a GPS that you are
disposing of and the unlock codes are forever?
In other words, if my 2 Garmins ares run over by a truck, I have to
purchase another unlock code from Garmin, even though I am no longer
able to use the two I purchased?
Any one have any experience here?
Thanks

wouldn't do it. The tech said he'd ask a supervisor, then came back
and said the answer was no.
I had an Ique stolen and they did it in that case but they had me
prove it was stolen with a copy of the police report. The one the
police made out.
Good luck.

I think that the trick there would be to send them in for a fixed-price
repair!
Seriously - I expect that they may well do you a deal on at least recon
units c/w unlock codes.

In that case I'd trade them in and ask Garmin for the most economical
solution (I guess is they'd come with what you want (new hardware at
your expense and a new unlock code for the new hardware)...

I'd consider that fair enough.
