I'm new to vehicle GPS units, and plan to get the NUVI 660 this week.
However, I'm curious about updating maps. By this I mean two things --
newer versions of current maps, as well as adding completely new maps.
The maps on a new unit are no more current than 6 or 12 months, right?
So how does one update the maps with new information? Are their POI
lists out there than I can download and install? What about new roads?
I understand that Garmin has lots of European maps available on SD
card, but what if I want to just have a topo map of my favorite
national park. How can I do that? Can I add one that I've scanned? Or
must I buy one?
Thanks
matt

A very good place for GPS (nuvi) information. Do NOT use the webupdater
program to update firmware.

DanR, from what I can tell, Garmin has removed the manual updater for the
660 from their web site. How would you update without using the webupdater?

What is the problem with WebUpdater? I have used it several times
without difficulty.

I dunno Mike. Several say not to use it. But, like you, I have used it
several times with my useto have 350 with no problems. I should be getting
my new 660 in a few days, and will use it then. Sometimes, I think it's
the either the operator or computer, not the webupdater that's the problem.
