Until the begining of this year i used my trusty Go910 but that died after a
good long life of service. I replaced it with the Panasonic device which is
totally crap compared and takes a lifetime to boot up so i will be getting
rid of it.

I like the look of the Go940 and what it has to offer and wondered what
other 940 users think of it in general although i understand that the voice
command function is a poor feature in no less than ideal conditions.

Thanks.

For what it is worth, I have a TomTom GO 530T and I think it is the best
thing since sliced bread!

I don't use voice command, but I'm very happy with my Go 930, whic I've used all
over North America and Europe. Quick boot, and very quick route recalculation.

I have GO930 and I personally think Tom Tom-s r crap. I previously had a
cheap Nextar which was great because:
1. it calculated routes very quickly
2. once near destination it told me if destination is on right or left [my
GO930 does not]
3. the suction cup could be mounted on dash or windshield and can be turned
for the passenger to view, too

But my Nextar got stolen from my car and last Christmas I bought this 930
mainly for its
bluetooth capability but it later turned out to be unnecessary because
bluetooth headsets are very cheap....a Nokia BH102 costs around $20 and
work great.

On the other hand, GO930:
1. takes ages to calculate US routes and are mainly erroneous
2. only windshield mount and not in a comfortable viewing position
3. sd card is only for backups

Don't know much about the 940 but I will never buy a Tom Tom again

I have just bought a Tomtom Go 730.
It is not a bad machine as navigation goes, but it was supposed to be able
to warn me when I exceeded the set speed limit. It does not have the set
speeds in its maps around where I live and when I changed a 60ks/hr street
to a 40 ks/hr street to see if it worked, it didn't warn me until I was
doing 15 ks/hr above the speed limit. Even I do not go that much faster than
allowed.
Needless to say I am disappointed.
Cheers,
Dan
