Hi everyone,
Thought this would interest this newsgroup. We've just launched a new
website that combines Social Networking (Web 2.0) with GPS Point-of-Interest
(POI) data.
http://www.POIfriend.com
POIfriend makes it easy to create, find, comment, rate and share POI
Groups -- and download them in numerous (and growing) compatible POI data
formats (Garmin, TomTom, Google Earth, etc).
When convenient, I hope you'll drop by, have a look and let us know what you
think!
Cheers,
Dave

Can't search by location (or POI's closest to specified location anyway), or
am I missing something? Would seem like the obvious feature to put in.

Good point John and thanks so much for taking the time to provide feedback.
We actually have something like that on the list for the near future!
Actually, when you create an account - you can specify as many personal
locations (ie: coordinates) as you wish. Once you've located a POI Group of
interest, it will then sort the individual POIs in order from closest to
furthest from the current location profile you've set up.
For now, at least people can locate POI Groups that would interest them and
see which are closest to them.
Of course, your POI Groups are designed to be sent over to a GPS device....
so all of that gets taken care of once the data is on the device.
