SOLAR FLARES COULD DISRUPT GPS RECEIVERS

The degradation of GPS signals by solar flares was recently investigated
by a team from Cornell University. For more information read the following
press release:

They had no effect in 2000 when solar flares were at their peak. With
more birds in the air, it won't be a factor again.

The 2011-12 solar max is expected to be some 30-50% more active that
those of the last few decades that GPS has been in existence.

Still, I can not imagine that they will disrupt GPS receivers. Maybe GPS
reception.
