Magellan explorist 500
Hello, just want to be sure i have this right, there is no way to convert
maps from other programs,(ie-ms streets and trips ) besides their own
(imho- overpriced) software?
Is the following really the only option?

MapSend Topo – Canada Price $115.00 US
MapSend Topo 3D USA Price $149.99 US
MapSend DirectRoute North America Price $149.99 US
MapSend WorldWide Basemap Price $99.00 US

Yep, that's it. And you can get similar kinds of similarly priced
software from Garmin if you change to one of their products.

Don't buy your mapping products from magellan at MSRP, there are
Internet sellers and eBay sellers that will let you save 1/3 to 1/2 of
so of the MSRP.

And I'd wait to buy them until I needed them too. That way you'll get
the most recent data and things have changed on prices and the like...

If you travel to Australia and want to purchase MapSend WorldWide Basemap
then its $225.50 US ($299.20 AU)

It's the SAME CD. Does that make sense?

No, not at all. Not one bit. It would be interesting to know what a
retailer pays for that and what their markup or profit is on that as
compared to here. I know you pay quite a bit more in taxes than we do.

Jack, it's $166 (US) if bought in the UK. Anything to do with GPS is less
expensive in the USA. This doesn't apply to other USA products so it's more
than just local taxes.
