Do they have any of these lower priced GPS units now, that can import a
list of addresses from an Xcel spreadsheet and route them for you?
More or less. I believe the Garmins (most all of them) can import a .csv
file as "favorites" which are then routable. Don't know the details as I
don't have a Garmin.

If your spreadsheet doesn't include actual coordinates (ie
longitude/latitudes), then you're going to have to make use of a 'geocoding'
service of some kind. This is definitely the case for the Garmin range - the
unit itself won't convert addresses to coordinates.

Looks like I gotta go with a full-blown laptop and Streets & Trips then.

All of these devices do a single address at a time, of course, and the
Garmin's (at least) will also take a *.csv list with coordinates.
You can dump a list to a geocoding site (some will do short lists for
free) for conversion or you can fine-tune your own list using Acme
Mapper (http://mapper.acme.com ).
MS MapPoint will also import an address list, but, if I recall
correctly, won't export coordinates. But my experience with that is
with an older version, so new versions may be worth investigating.
