I borrowed the one from work to try out. I am going to be going to Ohio
in April and wanted to see how it worked locally when I knew where I was
going. The programing is only a couple of years old, but there were many
places that were wrong or just not in it. Is it because I am in Montana
- where they don't pay attention to us or is this normal?

The mapping companies, who are trying to sell updates, say that up
to15% of their data is updated annually - new roads/POIs/junction
alterations, etc. Given it appears to take at least two years for new
roads to appear on an update, and the update will then be sold for a
year, it's likely that 30% to 45% of the detail is wrong. So as a
general navigation aid they're better than nothing, but to rely on
them is taking a lot of trust
If they update them annually - than they must be ignoring Montana. The
street in front of my house is decades old and it does not exists on the
GPS. It does not help that city is not incorporated, so it is mostly
path ways. (We are little more than a wide spot in the road.)

You don't seem to read text message often as I have mentioned about 1/2
dozen times that it took Garmin up to 2008 to get to my drive way. I live
in this 46 years old house for 30 years, and the older City Navigator was
able to get to around 1/2 block (2 houses) from my house when it started
screwing up.
