Hi together! I have a N=FCvi and a Quest from Garmin, both with
Mapsource Software for Europe. Now I plan a longer trip in the USA
with a motorhome and like to plan in advance on my notebook at homeu.
What do you recommend: To buy a entirely new system with USA maps, or
jsut maps? Where to buy - here in Europe?

An inexpensive way to get started is to plan your trip using Google
Earth. There are several KML to GPX translators available. Your
Garmins support the GPX format. As far as basemaps, look around
mapcenter
http://mapcenter.cgpsmapper.com/
and you may find what you are looking for in IMG format.

I hope this helps!

Don't forget ordinary GOOGLE.. which has a My Maps section now.

you can go do your own itinerary...

but as far as using your GPS to autoroute in your RV ... on American
roads.. similiar to the way you use it in Europe.. if that is what
you're expecting.. I would think you gotta get the maps...

I have a European GPSMAP60CSx and installed Metroguide USA for my trip
in the USA. Of course Metroguide isn't autorouting navigating software,
but as to preparing the trip and even during the trip this map was very
useful. Metrouguide also doesn't need an unlocking code.
