I can use a $20 GPS USB "mouse" with free Google Earth. I can use the
GPS in my phone with free Google Maps.

Are those what you're asking about?

GPS integration used to be available only with the Pro version of
Google Earth, which you had to pay for. In the more recent releases
that function is now available in the free version also.

I still haven't been able to get realtime GPS tracking to work with
Google Earth. I can't find a way to tell GE which serial com port to
look at to get the incoming NMEA data. Has anyone else been able to
get this working?

I just tried it. It seems to work just fine for real time tracking
without a serial port connection. I have it connected to a Garmin
76 CSx via USB and it is working correctly. I went to the help
function and clicked on "User Guide" then I chose "Using GPS devices
with Google Earth" and followed the instructions for setting it up.

Now if we could only download the data for this to show when not
connected to the Internet it would be great. Anybody know of a way
to do this? I do it with USA Photomaps but the user interface
leaves a lot to be desired.
