I live and work in Shropshire, UK. A lot of my work involves a lot of
driving on minor roads and lanes.
How detailed is the i3 with rural areas?
Also, how irritating is it that (AFAIK) you only have the choice of one
voice?
What are overall impressions, particularly now that it can be had for
£169.99?
Si.
i live in canada and drive a transport truck, all the usa and canada
small even gravel roads are listed. and you get use to the voice just
turn her dwn a bit lol
Use the "Mapviewer" on the Garmin website cartography section. You can
zoom in on an area you know well, and check whether the detail meets
your expectations.
So, this will actually be the mapping that the i3 will have use of?
If so, seems pretty good to me.
Si.
I've got a Streetpilot i3 and it seems to work very well in rural areas
but not QUITE as accurate as in the cities - for instance I have
friends in rural North Yorkshire and it got me there ok but it somehow
feels slightly less precise in the country than it does in town.
For instance, it says says "arriving at destination" slightly early (by
about 100 metres) and whereas in town it'll say its final "turn left"
when you are right next to the road in question, out in the county
it'll say it a little too early (but the direction arrow on the screen
is correct).
It is the first satnav system I have ever used and I am very impressed
- I'd say that for =A3170 at Dixons it's a bargain and you should get
one!
