I have read about the Garmin Streetpilot C330 having an internal hard
drive. Is that still the case or did Garmin make the newer units with
some sort of flash memory?

The specifications on Garmin's site are unclear.

Yes.

or did Garmin make the newer units with

Garmin only used the hard drive on three units...the 2620 and it's dead
reckoning brother and the 330.
