$188, here is a link to that hit:

I wondered the same thing. If Garmin is going to discontinue production
on it that might explain it.

Since the Oregon and Colorado models have come out, Garmin has continued
to offer all of the 70 series handhelds (72 and 76 series models,
including the C, S, Cx, and CSx variants). They now describe them as
marine models instead of calling them on the road and on the trail models.

I think that Garmin realizes that the marine versions of the CO and OR
models are not going to satisfy the needs of the people that were using
some of the earlier models, particularly in marine applications.

If there was one model amongst all of those that was destined for
continued production it might by the 60CSx or76CSx as those are
perceived as the most useful or top of the line models (by Garmin if not
by everyone).

I would probably consider the CSx models to be more versatile than the
Cx models if Garmin had given users the choice of turning the compass
and barometer off if desired and in choosing the either the barometer or
the GPS elevation as the data in track logs.

I don't think Garmin really need to dump several newer models yearly
trying to dominate the market polopoly, but they are much safer and wiser
to.

- Come up with a good flexible software for some model, then using firmware
to improve the product to gain some trust back from customers.

- They may only need to release 1-2 newer models every 2-3 years, and trying
to show some good service to the customers than sending them away.

- Spending more time to improve the software (MapSource and the
installation), especially software for the GPS itself.

Right now all they are doing is something like.

- Removing the ARROW

- Adding the ARROW back on newer version

- Removing the ROUTE

- Adding the ROUTE back on newer version

- Adding external battery

- Removing external battery

- Adding FM traffic

- Replacing FM traffic with MSN Direct

- Replacing external memory with HD

- Replacing HD with external memory

- Allowing MAP to be installed on other drive than drive C:

- Not allowing to install on any drive than drive C:

        It's just so annoying.
