I'm new, Will any of the hand held GPS units work with DeLorme Street Atlas
USA ver.7 or do you need something additional to work with most any of them
please? Thank you!

SA7 ran only on PC's, but like a long time ago. It was a W95 or maybe
W98 application.

The handheld GPS units all have embedded software and a basemap. Then
you start buying optional street, topo, or marine mapping packages to
get more detailed mapping data of different types.
