Briefly:
GPS TrackMaker v. 13 saves background map images in the root directory.
In detail:
I use GPS TrackMaker with a Garmin eTrex Venture.
Great program!
I prefer saving in *.txt format (rather than *.gtm format) because:
1) The *.txt files can be hacked in a text editor, and
2) Unlike *.gtm files, *.txt files do not contain a copy of the
background map images, only a reference to them. This saves HD space.
Through versions 12.x this worked almost perfectly.
My only little complaint was that a copy of the bitmap was saved in the
same directory as the *.txt file. E.g.,
d:\some\path\gps\GPS_TrackMaker\location\map7.gif
so I chose to place the bitmaps there in the first instance.
I would have preferred to keep the bitmaps in a separate directory.
Since version 13 instead it saves the bitmaps in the root directory, e.g.,
\map7.gif
and this is one place where I do _not_ want to keep them.
Any comments, insights, work-arounds, etc.?
Does the PRO version have the same problem, and of it does then would
somebody kindly report it on www.gpstm.com?
(I can't go back to gpstm version 12.x because it seems that only
version 13 wants to talk to my eTrex Venture with Firmware version 5.10.)
Thanks,
best regards,
Kristian Kjær
