Does anyone know what mask angle is used in the Garmin 76csx? This
page was showing one sat for quite a while before my receiver
acknowledged it's availability, and the map shows a few more way off
to one side that the receiver just doesn't want to see. And NO -
there were only 11 shown in the display at the time.

The FAA webpage has to be showing visibility for receivers at very
high altitude... I haven't bothered to determine the limit, but it
is higher than 30,000 ft above MSL. I checked with software (XEphem)
and receiver both with mask angles set to zero.
