Don't buy Archos 605. GPS is missing. Wait for its next release
next year.
Just curious: what is Archos 605?

Google pretty much answers the question.
It's a media player thingy with WIFI. Things like a browser, Real Video
software, Internet radio software and more, are all cost options.
Sorta like a typical PDA with more storage space, and less features, and a
proprietary OS. Horray.
And it's not "missing" a GPS. It just never had it in the first place.
Kinda like a car that has cost options like hub caps, plastic bumper bars,
carpeting. You know, things you don't _really_ need, but you get with all
other cars as standard anyway.
And of course, things like a sun roof are not available on that model - not
even as a cost option.
Just my opinion of course, but I don't hold much hope for the future GPS
enabled models anyway.
I mean, I know people want all-in-one gadgets that can make calls, organise
their lives, play games, play music, play video yadda, yadda, yadda. I know
this because they already exist, and people are buying them.
But a Media player / Wifi browser / SatNav all rolled into one? WITHOUT the
ability to load your own software? Sorta strange combination there.

In my experience, devices like that which are designed to do many things

do not do any of then extraordinarily well. When you do have something
that does all those things to a leading-edge level, you've still lost
the ability to upgrade any singular function, as well as the ability to
use them separately, and likely not saved any significant amount of money.
