Heck and there'd be absolutely no connection between these items and
you, would there? Oh, hang on...

And what sort of quality bit of kit is this?

"its slow calculation of simple routes and inability to calculate
complicated ones effectively render all of this effort useless. After
all, what's the point in having a sat-nav that can't get you to Wales or
Liverpool from London?"

Steve,

Yes, the links are connected. However, the prices are still lower than
Amazon.co.uk, and it still shows 20/26 customer reviews giving 4 or 5
stars.

I preferred the following customer reviews on the Amazon.co.uk site,
which have not had a word changed!!:

5.0 out of 5 stars Great GPS, 15 Oct 2007
By J. Franken "Developer" (Australia)
This is a great little GPS. Its fast and accurate, which to me are the
most important bits. If you want loads of features you wont get it
here, but its got pretty much all you need in a GPS. The GPS tracking is
good and automatic route re-calculations are seamless. The interface is
VERY easy to use and the search features are also top of the line. Once
again, fast and efficient. What this GPS lacks in features it sure
makes up with ease of use and performance. If you just want to get
around this is a defininate good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sat Nav globally, 2 Oct 2007
By Dean Sutton "Dean" (Birmingham)
Hi I bought one Carrera X350 because I needed a SatNav without spending
all my money in it. First impression: good software quite easy to use
and I do appreciate this feature as I hate to check user guides before
getting started with a new product. Voice guidance is quite good so
even in noisy areas I can get the directions. Among the trips I've made
I used it to go from Birmingham to a place I've never been in the
countryside - a kind of village, without hesitating at any time and
reached my destination quite easily, without having to plan the whole
journey with a map. One of the great feature is this SatNav is thin and
easy to carry in my pocket so I can even use it for jogging as I
discovered there are different modes including pedestrian.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent buy, 22 Nov 2007
By G. Wall (Bedfordshire)
I have never had a Sat Nav before and needed a straight forward system
to get me from A to B. If that is what you are looking for this is it!
You type in your postcode destination and off you go. If you take a
wrong turn, it will re - route you or you can turn round and it will put
you back on the original track. An excellent piece of equipment and well
worth every penny! I am impressed! A piece of equipment that compares
admirably to it's competitors on the market.

Are you alleging that I changed any of the words in the review I posted?
And I note that the reviews you posted are from people who
have never had satNav before. Hardly reliable.

Still no shame over spamming your own crap either, I see.

Steve,

I was stating that the reviews I had copied into the post had not been
changed. I'm sure the review you linked to had not been edited,
although you had changed the links in your quoting of my original post.
;-)

The review you posted actually gave 9/10 for Value for Money, 4/10 for
Performance, 8/10 for Features and 7/10 Overall. I'm offering better
Value for Money, but not to anyone prepared to pay £300+ for excellent
performance. This satnav is aimed at new buyers with a tight budget,
and I don't see why you should have a problem with that when the review
you quoted gave it 7/10 Overall..

However, to improve the information content of this thread, can I ask
which satnav(s) you would recommend for new buyers looking to pay less
than £80?

........Phil

PS. Spam = excessive cross-posting of substantially similar messages?
In which case we are both equally guilty! ;-)
