Yesterday I successfully found; loaded and utilized a program (Switch) to
change WAV files (on my computer) to MP3 format. It worked well. I then
inserted a 2gb SD card into my NUVI 350 and copied the data to a new folder
on the card called MP3 files.

There is also a file folder called MP3 files on the Nuvi itself., It
contains a half dozen sample songs. The Nuvi seems to read either the
pre-loaded files and/or the files on the card with no trouble.

My problem is that the MP3 files that I copied to the SD card....do not show
the full data for artist and album. They do show the name of the song..but
Nuvi doesn't recognize it, either. Apparently, the data that was part of
the original copy mechanism has been lost.

The two columns for artist and album now have a letter ( A or B or C, etc. )
with no real tie-in to the actual artist. So, when the Nuvi brings up my
directory of songs, under the letter C it might show ten minutes of
songs.....made up of three songs ...with no real explanation of what those
songs are.

How can I change the transferred data on the card to reflect the proper
data? If I do, I assume that Nuvi will then show the correct choices. Any
and all help appreciated. Thanks Rich

Hi Rich,
It sounds like your copy program did not faithfully produce the ID3
tags. These tags, embedded in the mp3 file format, provide the data
players use to show artist name, song title, album title, track
number, cover art, etc. In some cases, when converting from wav to
mp3 you will have to enter this info yourself. I have used windows
media player to convert wav to mp3, which has an advanced tag editor.

I hope this helps!

Doug, I tried to find a conversion program in W Media Player.... and some
how missed it...May I ask what procedure you used to utilize Media
Player..... which I would prefer to use, anyhow. thanks Rich

I opened my mouth and inserted my foot. Wav to mp3 is not supported
by Windows Audio converter. I realize now I must have remembered
converting the other way - mp3 to wav. I just spent the last hour
looking for an update or a plug-in but to no avail.
Regrets,
- Doug

Well, thanks for looking..... Luckily, I was forced to go play some golf, so
I didn't even look myself. If you come up with an idea regarding copying
the added file information, or another file to use ...to convert WAV to MP3,
I'd love to hear about it...thanks anyhow..Rich
