I normally use a GeoXT, but another office has a Delorme Earthmate
(serial) that they would like to use to collect x,y coordinates for
jobsites (which I would then import into ArcGIS). I've looked through
the Delorme documentation, but cannot find any reference to the
Earthmate being able to store x,y points for a later export to GIS.
Does it even offer this option?
The DeLorme Earthmate doesn't store data. The old serial Earthmate isn't
NMEA, so it can only be used with DeLorme products. The new USB Earthmates
are NMEA so they can be used with any app. The Bluetooth Blue Logger
(http://www.earthmate.com/prod_bluelogger.asp ) does store track data
internally that can be downloaded a number of ways, but you can't make it
create single waypoints based on your current position, whenever you want,
like you can with a handheld GPS or say the Earthmate running an app on a
laptop or handheld.
