I'd like something that doesn't rely on data....particularly when
abroad! No TomTom for Android....yet or ever?

I'm wondering whether anybody has devised a way to cache all
Google Maps maps for a certain area in advance. I think that
would be a clever solution.

By the way, install Google My Tracks too. It allows you to
record tracks and, among other formats, export them in GPX
format.

Yes, thats been done.

Yep. And the best way to use the most up to date data too.
