I stick my nuvi so it covers the tach, it's not on the windshield. The
suction cup mount works well, especially with a little water behind
it.

But it eventually loses its gription and falls.

I've been thinking about adding some sort of adhesive behind it,
something not permanent and not full of solvents that'd wreck the
plastic over the gauges or the suction cup.

Last night I applied some "washable" goo from a Staples glue stick. No
idea if that'll work at all, really. Mostly just an experiment.

Any good ideas of something better?

Silicone grease... Any grease... Vasiline? (That spelled right?) Any
used sparingly would work well. Too much and it would just slide
around.

I get that the grease won't evaporate, but it's hard to imagine it'll
stick to one place that way. Am I overlooking something?

No, I think your perception is probably correct.
Besides not working very well, I think getting silicone OFF the windshield
later would be a real bitch.

A tiny drop of dish washing detergent is probably a better choice or a tiny
spritz of hair spray (on the cup, not the window)! Both tend to be really
sticky when dry.

Never thought about trying dish washing detergent, so maybe some day
I'll give that a go. Yes, it does leave some crap on the glass, but
that does clean up with a good glass cleaner.

(also see my other post.)
